Usenet search

Search tab allows you to perform searches against Newznab Usenet indexing sites. Newznab is a open source GPL based Usenet indexer that runs as a service for remote access. Newsflash will send your search request to the servers for processing and display the returned data for easy downloading.

In order to learn more about Newznab and see a list of available Newznab servers visit the Newznab website Please note that Newznab is still under development so there might be outages when the services are not available.

Before it is possible to search for items at least one Newznab service must be configured. Configuring a service is the process of filling in the account details (apikey) and the server address.

Automatic Configuration

Newznab configuration

  1. Click Import
  2. Enter your email address. (Server might or might not require account activation via email)
  3. Click start to begin the registration process. During this process Newsflash registers an account with the provided email address with all the listed Newznab sites.
  4. Click OK.

Manual Configuration

Newznab configuration

  1. Go to a Newznab site such as www.nzb.su
  2. Register an account (follow directions given by the site)
  3. Click add
  4. Enter the server URL in the Host field
  5. Enter your key in the Key field (look for the key under your Profile, it should look something like "123456789abcs123456abcd1234"
  6. Click Test to make sure everything is working
  7. Click OK
